Exercise isn’t just a luxury, hobby, pastime or something that we just do for a bit of fun. It is a necessity. So why is exercise important?

There are many reasons that it is important to get plenty of exercise.

We need to move to be healthy and to maintain general good long-term health!

Our bodies need oxygen and nutrients to function and exercising helps with this.

You see, when we exercise, we increase the amount of oxygen in our blood that gets transported around our body.

When we workout, we also increase the flow of blood in our bodies which distributes the nutrients from the food that we eat throughout our body.

Exercise also helps to improve overall health, strengthen bones and also strengthen muscles.

By exercising regularly, we are decreasing the risk of getting certain illnesses and even diseases as it boosts the immune system.

If you want to lose weight or just get in shape, being active is an important part.


To be honest, there are way too many to mention and this blog post would end up ridiculously long so let’s start with some of the main benefits of working out consistently.

As well as promoting weight loss, working out helps to build, tone and sculpt the body.

Generally, I find working out regularly with an exercise plan helps to increase my energy and it also gives me a little bit of a mood boost – not to mention that it strengthens the heart and immune system.

As someone who has Lupus, I can honestly say, since starting to work out regularly, my health has massively improved and I don’t get as ill anymore.

So, for all you scanners out there (I get it, I’m one too), performing regular activity helps:

  • Maintain general good long-term health
  • Increase the amount of oxygen in the blood
  • Strengthen muscles (including organs)
  • Strengthens bones
  • Improve the nervous system
  • Strengthen the heart
  • Decrease the potential for osteoporosis
  • Decrease the risk for diabetes
  • Strengthen the immune system
  • Promote healthy weight-loss
  • Tone muscles and sculpt the body
  • Increase fat-loss
  • Boost the metabolism
  • Increase and sustain energy
  • Increase stamina
  • Stabilize blood pressure
  • Stabilize blood sugar levels
  • Boost general mood (as endorphins are increased)
  • Improve mental clarity
  • Detoxify the body

… and that is why exercise is so important.
